UAE. Dubai Duty Free today marked its 37th anniversary with a series of activities at Dubai International (DXB), led by a special -25% discount on a wide range of merchandise. As in recent years this has been available to shoppers over three days from 18 to 20 December.
The retailer said the discount led to “a spending spree at Dubai International and online through Dubai Duty Free’s Home Delivery service, which is available for UAE residents”.
Executive Vice Chairman & CEO Colm McLoughlin said: “Despite the difficulties brought about by Covid-19, we have gone ahead with our 37th anniversary celebrations by offering passengers and UAE residents alike the chance to avail of a -25% discount across a wide range of products. This is our way of saying thank you to our customers for their continued support during this challenging year.”
The 37th anniversary celebrations began last week with the Dubai Duty Free executive team, led by McLoughlin, marking the occasion in its Head Office in Ramoul before visiting Terminal 2 at Dubai International.
To mark the anniversary day itself (20 December), the Dubai Duty Free team visited Terminal 3’s Concourse C for a traditional cake cutting before proceeding to Concourse B for another celebration where they conducted the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise draws.
Two draws were conducted in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire promotion, with the winners drawn being Navaneeth Sajeevan, an Indian national based in Abu Dhabi, and Abdalla Alteneiji, an Emirati national.
The draw was conducted by Colm McLoughlin, Chief Operating Officer Ramesh Cidambi, Executive Vice President – Corporate Services Salah Tahlak and SVP – Marketing Sinead El Sibai.
Three luxury vehicle winners were also unveiled in the latest Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise draw. These were Indian nationals Mohammed Aslam Ali and Ravi Jetti, and Austrian Manfred Klaubauf.
Also present at the draw were SVP – Finance Bernard Creed, SVP – Human Resources Mona Al Ali, SVP – Retail Support Michael Schmidt, VP – Purchasing Sharon Beecham and VP – Loss Prevention and Corporate Security Zayed Al Shebli.
Dubai Duty Free also hosted a special Staff Surprise draw to mark the 37th anniversary and reward its teams.
