UAE. Dubai Duty Free has captured the Retailer of the Year prize at the Retail City Awards, which were held this week to coincide with the Cityscape exhibition at the Dubai International Convention Centre.
The award acknowledged Dubai Duty Free’s retail achievements over the past year, in which its turnover reached US$1.14 billion (for 2009) and the operation was once again named as the largest single airport retailer in the world.

Dubai Duty Free Managing Director Colm McLoughlin said: “We thank the organisers of the Retail City Awards for recognising our efforts at Dubai Duty Free and those of the retail sector in the UAE as a whole. The retail sector has come through a difficult period globally but this sector continues to be dynamic and innovate here in the UAE and we are delighted to be a part of it.”

The Retail City Awards were established in 2006 and aim to recognise and provide a perfect networking platform for retail real estate developers, investors, retailers, operators, mall management, consultants, architects, project management organisations and other professionals involved in the retail industry.
