NETHERLANDS. Specialist duty free supplier Dufri International has launched new Sony and Olympus branded digital cameras and introduced the 2007 range of Sony Handycam camcorders.
SONY CYBER-SHOT CAMERAS
Light and compact, the new Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W35 and DSC-W55 models boast luxurious looks and a durable metal face. The DSC-W55 has a brushed aluminium facing and comes in silver, black, blue and pink colours.
Available throughout Europe from February 2007, the cameras have a 7.2 effective megapixel sensor and Real Imaging Processor. The High Sensitivity (REI) mode boosts the maximum sensitivity of both cameras, while the Sony Clear RAW NR noise reduction algorithm suppresses picture noise at highest sensitivity settings.

The high quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens offers a 3x optical zoom range and a 6x digital zoom along with a combined 14x Smart Zoom. The lens can also focus to 2cm shooting distance for close-ups in Macro mode. Shots can be framed using the optical viewfinder as an alternative to the 2-inch LCD screen, while the DSC-W55 offers an even bigger picture with its easy to read 2.5-inch screen.
On-screen guidance is given on the most appropriate print paper size and number of shots available with remaining memory. A Direct Play button switches instantly to playback for quick confirmation of shots.
The energy-efficient design of both models delivers 380 shots between charges.

OLYMPUS CAMERAS
The Olympus FE-230 has a slimline stainless metal body which is just 16.5mm thick. Features include a TruePic TURBO image processor, a resolution of 7.1 Megapixels, a 3x zoom lens and a big 6.4cm LCD screen.
The ultra-slim FE-230 is said to offer great quality at a low price and will be available from February.
The camera incorporates a “one button, one function” design principle. A mode dial lets users choose between the camera’s eight shooting programmes. The camera offers 25 European languages.
An XD Picture Card slot and the internal memory make for plenty of storage space, and Olympus Master software edits and archives pictures on a computer.
The Olympus µ 760, available in three eye-catching colours, has a sleek, weatherproof body packing 7.1 Megapixels. This 3x zoom camera also integrates Dual Image Stabilization, preventing blurring.
BrightCapture Technology is claimed to guarantee great atmospheric shots. The µ 760 features special scene modes that increase the ISO value to 1600 – so the flash needs to be used less often – while retaining full 7.1 Megapixel image quality. The large 6.4cm LCD screen has 230,000 pixels, meaning views are around four times brighter than on a standard LCD.

The 3x zoom lens employs an inner-folded light path design which means no parts protrude that might get bumped or broken.
Other features include BrightCapture Technology, a 6.4cm HyperCrystal LCD, and a built-in one-touch light. The camera hits the shelves in March 2007.
