Eugene Barry joins Dufry as Chief Airport Retail Manager at Sharjah

UAE. Dufry has appointed Eugene Michael Barry as the new Chief Airport Retail Manager at Sharjah from April 2006.

Barry, 36, has a proven track record in the Middle East, the airport sector and in the travel retail business, Dufry said. He has undertaken “many important projects” for Aer Rianta International across the Middle East.

In Qatar he managed the inflight sales department, the start-up of the duty free shop, and the airport and downtown export liquor store. In Egypt he established a huge duty free retail operation at a tourist resort on the Red Sea.

In 2000 Barry was hired by Dubai Duty Free, where for three years he was responsible for commercial development and supply chain and human resources management.

In his 12-year career, Barry has gained “very good experience in many airport operational issues”. “He knows every aspect from developing relations to tendering,” Dufry said.
