BRAZIL. Dufry today announced the appointment of José Carlos Costa da Silva Rosa (50) as the Regional Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the group’s new South America division, effective 17 April.
He will be in charge of managing Brasif, the Brazilian travel retailer that was acquired by Dufry on 23 March, as well as any other operations that Dufry has in South America.
Brasif has been the leading duty free operator in the Brazilian travel retail market for over 20 years. It operates 48 shops with a retail surface of approximately 12,000sq m and has around 1,500 employees.
Rosa has 13 years senior management experience in the retail business. In his last position as the Retail Director with ANA-Aeropuertos de Portugal he was responsible for travel retail development and maximizing revenues at the most important airports in Portugal, including Lisbon, Oporto and Faro. Under his supervision a total of 80 concessions, 185 shops and restaurants and 21,200sq m of retail area were developed.
After the acquisition of Brasif Dufry created a fifth region, South America with a new regional office in Rio de Janeiro.
