Dufry wins ‘lifestyle electronic’ concession at Singapore Changi Airport; while SSP heads list of three F&B winners – 07/10/05

SINGAPORE. Dufry has consolidated its position at Singapore Changi Airport by being awarded the tender for a Lifestyle Electronic concession at terminal one’ s departure/transit lounge east.

The contract runs from 15 November 2005 to 14 November 2008 with a renewal option at the behest of the CAAS for a further period of up to two years.

As previously reported, the local arm of the Swiss travel retailer offered an additional rental of: a) 12% of total monthly gross sales or a minimum monthly guarantee (MMG) of S$150,000 for sales up to S$1,250,000 per month, whichever is higher; b) 12% of total monthly gross sales or an MMG of S$167,000 for sales above S$1,250,000 per month, whichever is higher.

The only other bidder was local firm Boon & Company which offered an additional rental of 3% of total monthly gross sales or an MMG of S$30,000 per month, whichever is higher.

This further consolidates its powerful position at Singapore Changi Airport where it already runs a number of electronics, confectionery and specialist concessions.

Meanwhile the awarding body, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), has also appointed three food & beverage kiosk concessionaires for T1.

They were awarded to Select Service Partner (SSP) Singapore (brand name western speciality food), and Polar Puffs & Cakes and Jollibean Foods (both brand name Asian speciality food).

Select Service Partner Singapore offered an additional rental of: (i) 18% of total monthly gross sales for sales up to S$50,000; (ii) 20% of total monthly gross sales for sales above S$50,000 and up to S$70,000; and (iii) 22% of total monthly gross sales for sales above S$70,000 or a minimum monthly guaranteed payment of S$8,000, whichever is higher.

For its award Polar Puffs & Cake offered an additional rental of 7% of total monthly gross sales or a minimum monthly guaranteed payment of S$2000, whichever is higher. And Jollibean Foods offered an additional rental of 15% of total monthly gross sales or a minimum monthly guaranteed payment of S$2,000, whichever is higher.
