Members of Edrington’s Global Travel Retail (GTR) team are preparing for a gruelling four-day charity cycle ride in Vietnam later this month. The annual charity cycling initiative has raised a remarkable US$780,000 in its previous three years.
This year’s ride takes place from 26 to 29 November, and will see 50 Edrington Philanthropists in Cycling (EPIC) riders cover over 600km from Nha Trang to Danang.

The aim is to raise money for Vietnam-based charities, including Newborns Vietnam. Newborns’ goal is to reduce neonatal mortality by working with local hospitals to train healthcare professionals and improve medical infrastructure.
The Edrington cycling team includes Global Travel Retail Managing Director Igor Boyadjian and Asia Travel Retail Managing Director Marcelo Colombo.

Looking ahead to the ride, Boyadjian said: “We’re thrilled to be in a position to support a charity as vital and inspirational as Newborns Vietnam. Equally, we’re fortunate to have the generous support of Edrington, which believes so strongly in charitable work and giving back to the communities in which we operate.
“We’ve enjoyed tremendous support from the travel retail industry in the past and hope it will dig deep this year once again.”
Edrington will ‘double match’ the sums raised and promote the support of its partners during the ride.
Last year 50 riders from Edrington offices across the world cycled 600km in Cambodia to raise US$500,000 for M’Lop Tapang, a local charity based in Sihanoukville which supports vulnerable children.
In 2016, Edrington’s charity cyclists raced through Taiwan and raised US$160,000 for the Kaohsiung Autism Foundation, which aids children with special needs.
In 2015, 17 cyclists rode 400km from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore and raised S$120,000 for Child at Street 11, a Singapore-based institution helping dysfunctional families break out of the poverty cycle.

Edrington’s principal shareholder is The Robertson Trust, Scotland’s largest independent funder of charitable causes. Dividends from Edrington have enabled the trust to give away more than £250 million (US$322.59 million) to charities in Scotland since 1961.
Since 2012, through International Giving More and its fundraising efforts, Edrington has donated more than £7 million (US$9 million) to charitable causes worldwide.
