USA. Duty Free Golf, the sports apparel specialist and duty free distributor for Callaway and Pebble Beach, will be presenting its latest brand, Bobby Jones, at TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes next month.
The Bobby Jones collection, named after the famous 1930’s golfer, consists of a stylish range of clothing, including polo shirts and sweaters for men and women, a cologne, a special-edition Bobby Jones watch, and other fine quality accessories.
“The new range will appeal to both golfers and non-golfers alike, capturing the style and essence of the 1930’s, and is as much a lifestyle statement as it is an essential golfing accessory, but with its origins born very much out of Bobby Jones’ great golfing achievements,” said Duty Free Golf director Mark Thornton. “We expect enormous interest in all countries where golf enjoys a great following, particularly out in Asia in places like
Japan and Korea.”
Bobby Jones items are presented in stylish packaging, suitable for gift purchases as well as self-purchase. “We are very aware of the importance of packaging for quality items in travel retail. The team at Bobby Jones are considering specific options for travel retail and we will be working on this in the future,” added Thornton.
Prices range from US$90 to US$900.
Duty Free Golf is enjoying success onboard Korean Air, where the customised golf packs of Callaway golf balls are selling extremely well to both South Korean and Japanese travellers. “Our sales so far have been over double our original projections for the pack, and Korean Air is delighted,” said Thornton.
Elsewhere in Asia, Duty Free Golf has become the first company to introduce a sports concept to the consumer in Beijing Airport. The company is looking to expand its presence in China next year and is keen to establish new partnerships and develop the sports lifestyle category in the region.
Successes across Asia in Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Indonesia are helping build on the company’s distribution gains around the world in key locations from the USA and Canada to the Middle East (Abu Dhabi) and Europe.
