Effy Jewelry announces first Alaska Charter Cruise with Holland America

AMERICAS. Effy Jewelry, one of the leading brand names in the world of luxury cruise retail, has announced its first Alaska Charter Cruise, in partnership with Holland America Line.

Effy has chartered Holland America’s Westerdam in full for its guests, with the seven-day ‘Escape’ cruise departing Seattle on 18 August.

It features what the brand owner describes as “unprecedented behind the scenes access to the Effy luxury world”, with “one-of-a-kind collections on display from bow to stern, taking over Holland America Line’s entire ship”.

The charter will see a full takeover of the Westerdam by Effy Jewelry for seven days, with many pieces presented for the first time to the brand’s VIP guests (Photos: Effy Jewelry)

Guests will have the opportunity to meet the Hematian family, owners of Effy Jewelry, to see, touch and buy jewels at tax- and duty-free prices, including new designs not yet released to a wider audience.

Effy Jewelry Executive Vice President Jennifer Patience (second left) spoke about the Alaska Charter Cruise during a discussion of the cruise luxury retail opportunity at Seatrade Cruise Global. Other speakers included (centre) The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection Chief Product Officer Mark Lockwood, Starboard Cruise Services VP Merchandising Sherrie Day (second right) and MSC Cruises SVP Onboard Revenue Stefano Menegotto (right). The session was chaired by The Moodie Davitt Report President Dermot Davitt (left).

Speaking about the cruise at The Retail Day* at Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami yesterday, Effy Jewelry Executive Vice President Jennifer Patience said: “We are putting a very large focus on our VIP customers. Before COVID we began arranging VIP cruises, booking some cabins and creating experiences for these special guests onboard. That proved very successful, so much so that Holland America asked if we would consider a full Effy charter.

“We are doing the first charter of its kind in August, with 200 Effy VIP guests already booked and with many Effy collectors joining us. We are taking over the entire ship with Effy installations and a full programme of activity. We are very excited and looking forward to it, and we have some audacious goals for sales onboard during the seven-day sailing.”

The sailing charts north to Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan, before returning to Seattle with a stop in Victoria, British Columbia.

*A successful, well-attended first edition of The Retail Day at Seatrade Cruise Global took place on 10 April, with Effy Jewelry a Platinum Partner. The event was co-organised by Seatrade and The Moodie Davitt Report, and featured six sessions dedicated to cruise retailing. More news from the event will follow shortly. Seatrade Cruise Global, the world’s largest annual gathering of the cruise industry, concludes later today. ✈
