BAHRAIN. An eight-year girl has emerged as the winner of Bahrain Duty Free’s International Award Winning Duty Free Shop competition.
Yara Khalid Yahya, a Bahraini national, went home with four jeeps worth US$245,000 – a Range Rover, a Lexus LX470, a Hummer H3 and a Nissan Patrol – after winning the first ever 4x4x4 ‘All Four One’ raffle draw.
The draw, conducted on 31 August, was the highlight of the month-long competition.
Some 2,000 tickets were sold at US$162.00 each during the campaign at duty free outlets, on company website www.bdutyfree.com and by the company’s telemarketing department.
“2,000 tickets were sold in a record-breaking 28 days, with the highest sale being on our award-winning website,” said Bahrain Duty Free Shop Chairman Farouq Al Moayyed.
He thanked the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transportation H. H. Sheik Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa for his continued support and encouragement in positioning Bahrain at the forefront of international marketing achievements and initiatives.
Bahrain Civil Aviation Affairs were also very supportive in creating the environment for the campaign, he said.
“Our agency produced an excellent campaign based on an in-house brainstorming session on how to improve our car draw contribution, with this unique raffle, possibly the first in the region if not in the world,” commented Al Moayyed. “With just one lucky winner, this is our way of saying thank you to our customers for making our first six months of 2006 our best first-half results since we commenced business in 1991.”
In his praise to the airport community for the total co-operation received during the promotional period, Managing Director Abdulla BuHindi said: “Everyone was truly excited with this promotion and I wish to thank all our staff who were focused on this amazing promotion, which really was the Draw 2 Win.”
When asked what she would do with the prize, Khalid Yahya replied: “I will sell the jeeps and buy a house.”
