Emirates broadens its US west coast coverage with new San Francisco route – 09/04/08

UAE. Emirates, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, will fly non-stop from Dubai to San Francisco from 26 October.

The move complements a new service to Los Angeles, which was announced last month and which begins on 1 September. These new routes follow earlier agreements with Houston and New York.

Emirates will be the first airline to connect the two cities and will use its new Boeing 777-200LR on the route, which offers 266 seats in a three-class configuration.

The airline will cover the 8,103-mile distance between the two destinations in a 16-hour journey to San Francisco and a 15 hour 40 minutes journey back to Dubai.

The new service will operate out of the International Terminal at (SFO). Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, said: “We see San Francisco as an integral part of our network development. The new service will additionally offer Americans better access to Dubai, the leading tourism centre of the Middle East.”

SFO Airport Director John L. Martin said: “San Francisco Airport strives to be the airport of choice for both airlines and passengers with a strong emphasis on customer service. Emirates Airline is known throughout the world for its detailed attention to passenger service, and we welcome the airline to SFO.”
