Estée Lauder ups the ante with new cosmetics introductions – 05/05/04

UK. Estée Lauder has expanded its cosmetics portfolio, in terms of treatment, body and colour, with a clutch of new launches.

The company has overhauled its Clear Difference oily skin range (pictured left), with new products and packaging. These are available in travel retail worldwide from this month.

Clear Difference Advanced Oil-Control Hydrator is described as a light moisturiser that leaves skin feeling hydrated on the inside, but looking perfectly matte on the outside. It thereby targets the three key concerns of people with oily skin – namely oil control, moisture balance and clarity – according to the company. It should be used morning and night, after cleansing.

Clear Difference Deep Pore Purifying Facial is a clay mask that deep-cleans and rebalances oily skin, without “oil rebound”. It is also said to control and normalise sebum production, and reduce inflammation and breakouts. It should be used once or twice a week.

Clear Difference UltiMatte Blotting Sheets – unlike typical blotting sheets that are made from rice paper – are composed of a special film that is said to absorb excess oil without stripping the skin of water, and leaving no powdery residue. The sheets are presented in a compact, portable pack of 50.

Staying with skincare, Lauder aims to strengthen its presence in the whitening sector with extensions to its WhiteLight Ex franchise. These are available now in Asia-Pacific doors. The novelties includes two new make-up products – WhiteLight Ex Extra Brightening Foundation and WhiteLight Ex Extra Brightening Powder Foundation, both with high SPFs. The new skincare products are an Intensive Night Creme, a Hydra Massage, a Color Correcting Kit and a Soothing Eye Mask.

Also new – and designed specifically for the Asian consumer – are two new introductions within Lauder’s top-end Re-Nutriv franchise. Re-Nutriv Intensive Protective Base SPF30 and Re-Nutriv Intensive Lifting Lotion are available in Asian travel retail from this month.

The base is said to provide state-of-the-art protection against both UVA and UVB rays, to help reduce the visible effects of everyday sun exposure. The lotion is said to deliver an intensive moisturising effect, in conjunction with lifting and firming benefits.

Within body care, Estée Lauder has introduced a new Body Performance range. The collection, which comprises an Exfoliating Body Polish, a Firming Body Creme, an Anti-Cellulite Visible Contouring Serum and an Anti-Perspirant Deodorant Spray, is said to work synergistically to attack cellulite while strengthening and smoothing skin.

The Serum (pictured above) acts in three ways, according to Lauder, and in clinical trials, women lost up to 2.5 centimetres, a result attributed to the product’s Thermogenic Complex. The Firming Creme complements this by giving an additional collagen boost, while the Body Polish detoxifies by shedding dry, scaly skin.

Within make-up, Lauder has introduced two limited editions. Amber Bronze Summer Essential Set (above left), available now, is a travel retail exclusive. It comprises Sun Kiss Amber Bronze Bronzing Powder, Amber Bronze Lip Gloss Balm SPF15 and one full-size make-up brush.

MagnaColor Maximum Intensity Mascara (pictured right) is a limited-edition collection of coloured mascaras. The shades available are blue, pink, copper, purple and ink. The line is said to take MagnaScopic’s formula to the next level, providing deeper and more intense colour and shimmer. The limited editions feature eye-catching packaging with a brightly-coloured top that matches the shade inside.

Lastly, Lauder has extended its Pure Color franchise with Pure Color Cool, a new palette of glosses, eye shadows and nail polishes. The collection features a limited-edition Eye Mousse, which is claimed to deliver lightweight, longwearing, smudge-proof, crease-proof coverage. It is available in three shades.
