INTERNATIONAL. The Managing Board of the European Travel Retail Council has defined the functions of each member.
Frank O’Connell of Aer Rianta Retail leads the team, as President of the council.
TFWA board member (and Cosmopolitan Cosmetics executive) Donatienne de Fontaines Guillaume is named Vice President Finance.
Vice-President Marketing Jacques Parson of Kappé International will, as his title suggests, deal with marketing issues, so integral to the organisation’s ambitions. In addition, he is tasked with increasing the membership of ETRC “as quickly as possible”.
Vice-President Business Development Fulvio Fassone will gather research and information about the industry as well as conducting work on the development of the travel retail business.
Company Secretary Barry Goddard is to handle the administration, as well as assist in financial issues. His key role will, however, be in the political representation of the council’s activities.
ITRC Secretary-General Keith Spinks is also employed by the ETRC as Secretary-General, and will report to the Managing Board. He is also watching political issues, notably the WHO threat to duty free tobacco sales, for the council.
The ETRC will also employ a Corporate Affairs Director, who will be appointed at a later date.
The council is funded through membership subscriptions and also receives donations from industry companies to fund specific projects, such as the campaign against the WHO’s proposals.
