CHINA. In major breaking news, Richemont, Fondation de La Haute Horlogerie (FHH) and China Duty Free Group (CDFG) are to host the first-ever Watches & Wonders Event in Sanya, Hainan island from 29 September through to 31 October (with a potential extension until late December), The Moodie Davitt Report can exclusively reveal.
An official signing ceremony and press conference for the ultra-premium international luxury watch and jewellery event will be held in mid-September. The Moodie Davitt Report will bring you extensive coverage of Watches & Wonders Sanya.
The initiative underlines the excitement that surrounds the travel retail market in Hainan – and CDFG’s leading role within it – especially since the enhanced offshore duty free shopping policy was introduced on 1 July.
“The strategic cooperation between Richemont, CDFG and FHH aims to offer the best-in-class ‘New Retail’ shopping experience to our Chinese travellers,” Richemont said.
Richemont International Distribution Director Michaël Guenoun paid tribute to the “exceptional and long-term relationship between CDFG and Richemont; in particular our solid collaboration with Mr Charles Chen [CDFG President] and his talented team.”
Watches & Wonders Geneva (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie/SIHH) is a high-end trade show for the international watch and jewellery industry, organised by FHH. Its influential website watchesandwonders.com is designed to be a one-stop digital platform for watch professionals and enthusiasts worldwide. It features the latest releases, design trends, expert analyses, news and wider feature content.
