Tian Qin notes the “unprecedented” collaboration between a hotel, a brand and a duty free retailer.

The power of three: Estée Lauder, CDFG and Marriott Bonvoy partner for blockbuster Summer shopping campaign
CHINA. Estée Lauder has struck a partnership with China Duty Free Group (CDFG) and Marriott Bonvoy Hainan Hotels to offer travellers a one-of-a-kind beauty experience in Hainan this summer.
The partnership kicked off this month with the launch of the ‘Hainan: Book Your Ticket to Beauty’ campaign, which offers exclusive experiences from all three partners across the hotel group’s estate.
The campaign was officially launched on 6 July with a gala event at The Sanya EDITION. It was attended by top Chinese KOLs, local media and Estée Lauder VIPs. The event celebrated the launch of four Estée Lauder CDFG-exclusive beauty sets and marked the beginning of CDFG’s Summer Shopping Festival which will roll out in Hainan.
Renowned Chinese visual artist Chen Man opened the gala event with a special photography exhibit — created in collaboration with Estée Lauder — that captured the diverse beauty of travellers in Hainan.
The KOLs livestreamed the event to their followers, inviting audiences to join them virtually, win prizes and learn about Estée Lauder’s latest products.
Estée Lauder Senior Vice President Travel Retail Worldwide Jean Yves Minet said: “As the number one beauty brand in travel retail, we are honoured to join CDFG and Marriott Bonvoy Hainan to bring a comprehensive luxury travel experience to travellers and our loyal customers.”
The partnership will see 23 Marriott Bonvoy Hainan Hotels host Summer Beauty Parlour events, where hotel guests can enjoy afternoon tea, Estée Lauder beauty workshops and in-room product samples. In addition, Marriott Bonvoy hotel guests can shop the brand’s latest products, via the Estée Lauder Duty Free Social Circle, through branded pop-up shops inside the hotels.
The Estée Lauder Duty Free Social Circle also offers lucky draws, gifts with purchase and exclusive KOL content as part of the campaign.
In addition, CDFG has revealed a beach house-themed activation at the Haikou Mova Mall. The pop-up features a beach bar, sampling vending machine and interactive photo booth area.
As an added element of exclusivity, Estée Lauder and CDFG have released four CDF-exclusive sets at the Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex and other Estée Lauder brand boutiques in Hainan.
The sets include the Estée Lauder Nutritious Super Pomegranate Radiant Energy 2-in-1 Cleansing Foam Trio; Estée Lauder Micro Essence Skin Activating Treatment Lotion Fresh with Sakura Ferment Duo; Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Face Serum and Eye Supercharged Complex Set; and the Estée Lauder Revitalizing Supreme+ Soft Crème Duo.
