INTERNATIONAL. The judges have revealed the short-list for this year’s Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Awards, drawn from a record-breaking 275 entries.
The awards recognise and reward best practice in airport food & beverage with two additional awards for railway station dining. They will be presented on 30 June during the Gala Dinner of this year’s Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Conference & Awards in Geneva (29 June to 1 July)
The event is organised by The Moodie Davitt Report (with sister title The Foodie Report) and will be jointly hosted this year by Geneva Airport and Caviar House Airport Premium [Note: As joint hosts, both Geneva Airport and Caviar House Airport Premium felt it appropriate not to enter this year’s awards directly.].

The Gala Dinner is being hosted by Caviar House Airport Premium.
The closing day of FAB 2016 will coincide with the opening of the 50th anniversary Montreux Jazz Festival, on Friday 1 July, to which FAB delegates will receive complimentary transport and passes to the opening night.
FAB attracts senior representatives from the world’s leading airports, railway station operators and F&B concessionaires to network with industry peers, share insights and celebrate best practice in this burgeoning sector.
Preliminary judging for FAB awards took place in London recently. The judging panel comprises Martin Moodie, Founder & Chairman, The Moodie Davitt Report & The Foodie Report; David King, Founder, The David King Partnership; Charlotte Christiansen, Associate Director, Davis Coffer Lyons (previously London Gatwick Business Development & Retail Performance Manager); and Anders Barsøe, Managing Director – Meyers and Løgismose’s directly owned shops and restaurants, Denmark (a former chef and previously Copenhagen Airports Category Manager – Food & Beverage and Convenience). Where results are too close to call further diligence is currently being conducted.
Commenting on the short list, Moodie said: “Judging this year’s awards was both a daunting and thrilling challenge. We were overwhelmed by the depth, breadth and quality of the submissions, with some categories attracting up to 30 entries from all around the world. The extensive short lists in certain categories reflect not only the volume of entries but also the consistently strong quality across the board, which made judging such a difficult task.
“The judges looked for many factors, including innovation, provenance, social commitment, Sense of Place, staff training, design, use of social and digital media, financial success and marketing excellence; but mostly, of course, for the sheer quality of offer. In all senses, the class of 2016 is right out of the top drawer.”
