SINGAPORE. Changi Airport has launched new family installations and a contemporary art exhibition that invites visitors to explore China.
The family installations focus on well-loved video games and are located in the Family Lounge in Terminal 3. They are part of the airport’s Changi Loves Kids programme and have been timed to coincide with the September school holidays.

Curated with Sony’s PlayStation brand, the installations feature PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR trial units and allow travellers to play a variety of games. These include EA Sports’ FIFA football games, Super Bomberman R, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, Dragon Quest Builders 2 and Overcooked! 2. Marvel’s Iron Man VR game will also be making its first public showcase at the Family Lounge.
To play, visitors can obtain a Changi play pass with a minimum spend at retail and food & beverage outlets in Changi Airport’s public areas.
Travellers can also explore China through a contemporary art and neon-lit exhibition called China, Lit!. Running from 6 September to 6 October, the exhibition showcases architecture, arts, culture and innovative entertainment and dining concepts in five Chinese cities – Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Xiamen.

The installation is located on the departure level of T3, and comprises neon-lit steel ring structures which take turns to light up. These are intended to reflect “the energy, dynamism and transformation of today’s China”, according to Changi. The focal point of the installation, ‘The Portal’, lights up in different colours corresponding to each featured city, “creating a visual rhythm for visitors in addition to many Insta-worthy photo opportunities”.
Visitors stand a chance to win a pair of airline tickets to any of the five featured cities by scanning the QR code on the content panels at the exhibition.
A Flavours of China playground has also been installed which is themed around the Mala hotpot, a traditional Chinese dish. It features an obstacle course, rotating wheels, a see-saw carousel, a slide and a ball pit full of Mala hotpot ingredients. Visitors can redeem Changi play passes for access to the adventure playground with a minimum spend at retail and F&B units.

Other activities at Changi this month include the UNO Challenge, where children aged between seven and 15 can compete against each other in the childhood game, and the launch of a new Barbie travel toy collection.
Finally, qualifying rounds for the Hot Wheels #ChallengeAccepted Southeast Asia Championship will also take place in the Family Lounge. Mothers can register with their child and compete in either the junior (5 to 8 years old) or senior (9 to 12 years old) categories. The competition involves various challenges using Hot Wheels cars. The national winners will get a three-day, two-night trip to the Philippines for a family of four, where the winner will be able to qualify for the Southeast Asia Championship.
