UAE. A fire broke out today at the Dubai Duty Free warehouse in the Umm Ramool area of Dubai. Staff were safely evacuated and there were no casualties, according to the company.
The damage was limited by the fast action of civil defence teams, it noted, after the fire began at around 2pm local time.
The retailer said in a statement: “Dubai Duty Free confirms that a fire started in the issuing yard of the Dubai Duty Free warehouse in Umm Ramool around 2pm today. All Dubai Duty Free employees evacuated safely and in a timely manner.
“The Dubai Civil Defence were quickly on the scene and extinguished the fire within minutes. There were no injuries during the incident. Our thanks to the emergency services for their swift action.”
The warehouse is situated around 1km from Dubai International (DXB), and is part of the Head Office and Distribution Centre complex.
