First North American airport soccer-themed restaurant and bar opens at Orlando International

USA. The first ever soccer-themed restaurant and bar in a North American airport, City Pub, has opened at Orlando International.

Orlando City SC, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority and concessionaire HMSHost staged a ceremony to unveil the venue in the airport’s pre-security Main Terminal area last week.

The colour themes of the bar are reflective of Orlando’s best-known soccer teams – Orlando City and Orlando Pride.

City Pub is a full-service restaurant and bar featuring “game day-inspired” cuisine and a backdrop celebrating Orlando’s soccer teams – Orlando City in Major League Soccer (MLS) and Orlando Pride of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

The venue includes a main dining room, full-service bar and adjacent lounge area. The bar’s décor features official soccer balls, team jerseys, soccer scarves, cleats, soccer field-shaped pendant lighting and artificial grass.

Beer, wine and cocktails are on the drinks menu at the first soccer-themed bar in a North American airport.

Large television screens throughout the restaurant will show soccer matches. In addition, there is an illuminated digital ticker feature in the centre of the venue which provides non-stop rotating updates on the latest soccer scores from across the globe.

The all-day dining options include chilli and pork tacos, brisket burgers, rice and veggie bowls, and chicken and artichokes. Breakfasts include chicken and waffles, and egg white scramble.

The drinks menu offers travellers a selection of beers, wine, and specially-named cocktails including the Away Days Sangria, Lion’s Passion Paloma and the Old Fashioned Footie.

The extensive dining options include chilli and pork tacos, brisket burgers, and rice and veggie bowls.

Orlando City SC Chief Executive Alex Leitão said: “This is an exciting project we have been looking forward to opening with our great partners in one of the most travelled airports in the world.

“The energy and excitement for soccer continues to grow in Central Florida, and we want every person travelling through Orlando to get a taste of our soccer club, especially during a year where Orlando will be on full display as the host for the 2019 MLS All-Star game and the home of world-class players ahead of this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.”

The digital ticker feature beams non-stop rotating soccer scores from around the world.

HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Amy Dunne said: “The City Pub brings travellers a first-of-its-kind dining experience that will have travellers making it a goal to visit the next time they are at Orlando International Airport.

“HMSHost is honoured to team up with the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority and Orlando City SC to welcome travellers and fans with great food and drinks along with a fun sports atmosphere that centres on the history and tradition of soccer in Central Florida.”
