US.HMSHost Corporation and Phillips Foods have announced an agreement to open the first airport-based restaurant at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Phillips new Famous Seafood restaurant concept is a modern version of their traditional family style seafood restaurant. Menu items are based on the award winning recipes developed by founder Shirley Phillips over 45 years ago and highlights the Maryland-style cooking they are famous for. The food will be cooked-to-order and the menu will feature items consisting of crab and seafood sandwiches, soups, salads, and seafood combinations.
In this arrangement, Phillips has licensed the Famous Seafood concept to HMSHost, who will build and operate the Charlotte airport restaurant scheduled to open next month.
Phillips Foods president Mark Sneed said he sees a promising future in the airport channel. “We are very excited to be working with HMSHost on the Charlotte Douglas location,” he said. “Their deep knowledge of the airport channel and their high-quality restaurant operations make them the perfect partner to operate the Phillips Famous concept in the airport environment. We make a great team, with a great future.”
“HMSHost is honoured to be working with one of the nation’s leading seafood brands,” said Stan Novack, HMSHost’s vice president of concept development. “Phillips reputation for quality and service is unsurpassed. We are proud to be bringing their products to the Charlotte airport community. We look forward to much success.”
The two companies are also working together to introduce Phillips menu items in bars and lounges in Charlotte, Jacksonville and Baltimore airports. Novack reported that these items have been “extremely popular” with passengers and that both companies are exploring further opportunities.
