Flug Zeug adds new accessories to recycled airline materials range

Viennese brand Flug Zeug has expanded its range of accessories made from airline materials to include new bags and a wristwatch. The range of Flug Zeug products is available from the Flug Zeug Webshop (www.flug-zeug.at) and select stores.

The brand’s name is the German word for airplane.

The Slimbag (left) and Bodyloop (right) are both made from recycled airline materials such as decommissioned life vests and seatbelt materials

Made from decommissioned life vests, the Slimbag is designed to fit 13in notebooks and MacBooks as well as documents.

The Slimbag features a pen holder made from the red oral inflation tube as well as straps, clips and other elements from original life vests to hold raincoats, scarves and other items. The shoulder strap is fashioned out of a seatbelt with the original adjusting brace.

Similar to other Flug Zeug products, such as the Sleeve for iPads, the Slimbag features the signature safety illustrations on the front.

Flug Zeug Founder Andreas Roesler-Schmidt said: “We make an effort to utilise existing elements from the aviation industry – not just as ornaments but as functional details.”

Also new in the range is the Bodyloop shoulder strap, which includes a detachable iPhone case, a pouch for small items and a keyring. The shoulder strap is made from seatbelt material and comes in blue or black.

The Bodyloop is targeted at cyclists, scooter drivers and other people on the move who don’t want to carry around a large bag.

The product range also now includes a chronometer watch by Seiko with a strap fashioned from a yellow life vest and seatbelt fabric in petrol blue. The wristband can be adjusted with two outer Velcro straps that “˜bite’ on an inner Velcro strap from two sides. The watch face is designed to resemble flight instruments.

Flug Zeug plans to release additional colour models of the watch soon.
