UKRAINE. Former Flemingo International Chief Operating Officer Simon Forde has been named as General Director at Heinemann Duty Free Kyiv. He has just taken responsibility for the German duty free retailer’s operations at three Ukrainian airports.
The gateways include two in the capital Kiev (Kyiv in Ukrainian): the 10.5 million-passenger Boryspil International Airport and the 1.8 million Igor Sikorsky Kyiv International Airport at Zhuliany, plus Odessa International Airport which serves 1.2 million passengers annually.
Forde worked with Flemingo International from June 2012 until April 2015 after which he joined Landmark, the Dubai-based domestic retail group. With Landmark he handled the Iraq market as General Manager.
Forde has a strong background in the duty free and travel retail channel having worked at The Nuance Group (now Dufry) for almost four years prior to joining Flemingo. He has retail experience of the Eastern European region having worked in Moscow for Moneks Trading (a subsidiary of The Alshaya Group) and the Aerofirst JSC, both prior to 2008.
