FRANCE. Fashion house Lanvin showed off the latest additions to its fragrance portfolio at last month’s TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes. Lanvin Vetyver – the group’s third men’s fragrance – made its debut in selected European domestic and travel retail markets in June. Feminine line Eclat d’Arpège was launched in France, Switzerland and Belgium in December 2002, and has gradually been rolling out to other markets since this spring.
The US will be a key focus for both fragrances throughout the fourth quarter, as the group seeks to effectively relaunch its fragrance business there. Correspondingly, the company is also hoping to build distribution for its signature Arpège women’s fragrance, which was created in 1927, and for Lanvin L’Homme, which was launched in 1997.
Lanvin was the first house to launch a men’s fragrance based around vetiver, in 1964. The line was discontinued by the 1990s, however, and its latest men’s offering is a completely new scent.
Lanvin Vetvyer targets men aged 30 to 40 – younger than Lanvin L’Homme’s core audience, but older than that of Oxygene pour Homme. As the name suggests, the juice features vetiver, along with notes of lime, nutmeg and white jasmine. The full line features 30ml, 50ml and 100ml edt sprays, a 100ml aftershave splash, a 100ml aftershave balm, and a 200ml all over cleanser gel.
Lanvin Vetyver is presented in a rounded flacon, similar to that of Lanvin L’Homme, topped with a matte, brushed metal cap. The juice, and the outer carton, are green.
Eclat d’Arpège, inspired by the iconic fragrance Jeanne Lanvin created for her daughter Marguerite, is described as a modern yet feminine offering. The juice is presented in a reworked, transparent version of the original Art-Déco flacon. The stopper features two wedding bands that are said to signify the renewal of the house, and the marriage between fashion and fragrance.
The line includes 30ml, 50ml and 100ml edp references, a 200ml body lotion and a 200ml shower gel.
