France legend Olivier Magne to offer tips at TFWA Rugby Tournament

Olivier Magne will offer tips to players of all abilities

INTERNATIONAL. Former France international Olivier Magne will be on hand to give tips during the mini-rugby tournament taking place during the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes.

The flag (i.e. touch rather than tackle) rugby mini tournament has been organised with the support of French wine company Peuch & Besse and is one of several leisure activities taking place on Sunday 20 October.

While the precise format of the tournament will depend on the number of players, participants of all abilities are welcome with instructions available for beginners.

Organisers added that the only requirement is a sense of humour.

Playing on the side of the scrum, Olivier had what Wikipedia describes as a “˜barnstorming’ game. Wrong. Barn flattening more like it.

The tournament will take place at the Stade Saint Cassien, with shuttles leaving from the Majestic hotel at 10.00am (attendees are asked to arrive by 9.45am).

All necessary equipment will be provided by the organiser, including water, cereal bars and coloured tunics to identify teams. However, participants are asked to bring appropriate clothing for playing rugby and tennis shoes.

Magne represented France 89 times during his career, while also playing for US Dax, CA Brive, Montferrand and London Irish, before retiring in 2007. He is now part of the Peuch & Besse team.
