GERMANY. Frankfurt Airport is celebrating victory in The Moodies – The Moodie Davitt Report’s airport and travel retail digital media awards.
The Frankfurt Airport Online Shop, which debuted in late 2015, won in the Best e-Commerce Platform category.
Some 15,000 different articles are now available from 11 retailers in the online shop, mixing leading international brands with typical German products. Many of the items can be delivered to the customer’s home or hotel if desired.
AOE was also recognised for the key role it has played in Frankfurt Airport’s development of its omnichannel activities.
“My team and I are thrilled at having won this major award. It has motivated us to redouble our efforts and pursue even more ambitious goals,” said Fraport Head of Retail & Properties Karl-Heinz Dietrich.
“The user figures also confirm that we’re on the right track with our innovative approach. In 2017 we counted more than two million visitors to the online shop, and that number is increasing fast. The product range and our roster of participating retailers are also growing steadily.”
The Moodies is now in its fifth year and aims to celebrate best practice in digital and social media use in the airport and wider travel retail community. This year 173 entries were shortlisted in 22 categories.
