Frankfurt Airport passenger traffic posts solid rise in August

Frankfurt Airport passenger traffic showed healthy growth in August though numbers are marginally down in the year to date

GERMANY. Frankfurt Airport passenger traffic climbed by +3.6% year-on-year in August to 5.8 million. The airport benefited from some switching of school holidays from July into August this year. For the year to date though, traffic is down marginally (-0.3%) to 38.6 million.

Among Fraport Group’s other majority-owned airports, Antalya passenger volumes rose +6.6% to 4.1 million. The increase was driven by Russian travellers, with a positive effect also from the crisis in parts of the Middle East region, said Fraport, as travellers chose to switch their travel plans to Turkey.

At Lima Airport numbers were up +12.3% in the month to 1.4 million. At Burgas Airport in Bulgaria, passenger numbers rose by +4.7% and they increased at Varna Airport by +5%.

Fraport Group passenger traffic overall climbed by +5.6% in August to 12.3 million. For the first eight months traffic has risen by +3.3% group-wide to 69.9 million.
