INTERNATIONAL. The winners of the Frontier and 2022 Global Travel Retail Awards (TRBusiness and m1nd-set) were revealed in Cannes last week.
DFNI-Frontier Editor Kapila Ireland described the Frontier Awards, which were presented at the Hôtel Martinez on 5 October, as a “showcase of the excellence and innovation which is present in our market today”.
DFNI-Frontier presented the Lifetime Achievement of the Year to Julián Díaz, CEO of Dufry Group from 2004 to 2022, while Outstanding Contribution to the Industry in 2022 was presented to ETRC Secretary General Julie Lassaigne.
Heathrow Airport was named Airport of the Year, while Airport Retailer of the Year went to King Power International. Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail and RetailinMotion both took two awards – Best New Shop Opening (for the superb Maison Martell: Martell Mova Mall Boutique) and People & Planet Awards, and Inflight Retailer of the Year and Technology Success of the Year, respectively.

The winners of the 2022 Global Travel Retail Awards were revealed by TRBusiness and m1nd-set at the Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic on 3 October.
The Best Overall Product had joint winners: E. Gluck for its Anne Klein Considered Solar Recycled Ocean Plastic Strap Watch and Whyte & Mackay Ltd for the Jura Islanders’ Expressions Collection No.1.
Abu Dhabi International Airport claimed three awards as Winner of Best Airport for Customer Service, Best Airport for Retail Environment and Best Airport Food & Beverage Offer.
