Furla has opened a new 7.5sq m personalised corner with JAL-DFS at Tokyo Narita Airport – the Italian accessories brand’s first airport retail location in Japan.
The Terminal 1 shop opened on 10 July offering the Spring/Summer 2012 collection, with a particular emphasis on the Piper line.
Said Furla Head of Retail Gerry Munday: “This marks Furla’s first airport retail opening in Japan, so it is very exciting for us. We’re extremely grateful to JAL-DFS for their co-operation in making the opening of the outlet run so smoothly.
“We see huge potential for the Furla brand in Japan. Last year Japan represented 26% of Furla’s global business compared to just 8% in 2006. In the first half of this year, sales on the domestic market have shown a +17% increase through Furla own stores and +13% increase through department stores. This bodes extremely well for sales through travel retail.”
In other news from Asia, Munday added: “We are also in Hainan Haikou Airport with DFS within the generic area with a shop-in-shop concept, which will be refurbished in line with the new Furla shop concept in November.”
