Gassan Schiphol opens first Rolex airport boutique outside Switzerland – 19/09/06

Gassan Diamonds President Benno Leeser: “The boutique is unique and looks great – it’s been done in a wonderful co-operation with the architects from Rolex”

NETHERLANDS. Gassan Schiphol last Saturday opened a Rolex boutique at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol – the first airport boutique from the ultra-premium watch company outside its native Switzerland.

The Rolex boutique opened on 16 September in Lounge 2 behind Customs. The 40sq m outlet is designed according to the highest quality standards of Rolex and upholstered with the watch company’s original furniture and display materials.

In addition to the regular Rolex collection, Gassan Schiphol featured the most recent Rolex models shipped from Switzerland especially for the opening. The latest three lines, all men’s, are the Gold and Steel GMT, the Yellow Gold Day Date with a face designed especially on the occasion of the 50th jubilee of the Day Date, and the White Gold Daytona with a pave diamond face.

Gassan noted that Rolex has been a market leader in the exclusive watch industry from its early days and is the best-known watch brand worldwide.

Gassan Diamonds President Benno Leeser told The Moodie Report he was delighted with the partnership with Rolex. “The boutique is unique and looks great – it’s been done in a wonderful co-operation with the architects from Rolex. We’ve worked with Rolex for a long time and we see this as a great opportunity.

“It’s a high-level shop with a very good position in the airport, allowing us to target the long-haul travellers. We’ve also had great help from the airport in locating the shop.”

Gassan said that when choosing its partners, Rolex is very strict in terms of standards of presentation and staff training requirements. “Gassan Schiphol has experienced, well-trained watchmakers who attend special courses each year at Rolex in Geneva to update their knowledge of the brand,” the company noted. “The sales staff also attend special training programmes to obtain up-to-date knowledge on the latest developments in Haute Horlogerie, necessary to successfully work with an exclusive brand such as Rolex.”

The opening is the latest in a busy year for Gassan Schiphol. Earlier this year it opened a Swatch boutique and a Montblanc boutique in lounge.

“This is another huge upgrade in the offering of luxury goods at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol,” the company concluded.
