SCANDINAVIA. Gate Gourmet, a member of gategroup, has strengthened its partnership with Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) with a two-year contract extension to 2016.
The company’s existing contract with SAS, which was due to expire in 2014, covers catering and provisioning services at the airline’s three main hubs in Copenhagen, Stockholm Arlanda and Oslo as well as other locations in Scandinavia.
Separately, the companies have also agreed a five-year extension of an agreement covering catering services at over 15 locations worldwide. This out-station agreement also now runs until 2016, and the scope of cities could include new locations where Gate Gourmet has a presence but has not yet served SAS.
The companies also reached a similar extension of an existing agreement covering the supply of products provided by sister company deSter.
Gate Gourmet estimates that the extensions to its existing contracts with SAS and associated new business will generate revenues worth about CHF250 million (US$294 million).
“We are extremely proud to extend and expand the strong partnership with Scandinavian Airlines System,” said gategroup’s interim CEO Andrew Gibson. “Both companies share a passion for reliability, innovation and quality. We are pleased to retain SAS as one of Gate Gourmet’s key customers well into the future.”
Gate Gourmet provides catering and provisioning service for SAS’s Business and Economy cabins on long-haul flights from the airline’s Scandinavian hubs, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo; for the Business and Economy Flex cabins on European flights; and for intra-Scandinavian flights as well as for charter flights from six Scandinavian locations.
