SLOVAKIA. Gebr Heinemann this week unveiled a new, enlarged travel retail store at Bratislava Airport under the Heinemann Duty Free brand. The store was officially opened by Co-Owner Claus Heinemann along with airport CEO Zdenek Schraml and Retail Manager Eva Svecova. The retailer is rolling out its new retail identity to key airport locations, following its unveiling in Hamburg in late 2008 and then Frankfurt in December 2009.
Gebr Heinemann has managed the duty free shop at the airport, which serves the Slovakian capital, since 2007. With the introduction of the new Heinemann Duty Free brand, the shop space has also been increased to 350sq m. Regional highlights, specialities and delicacies are presented in a bespoke “˜Regionals’ zone of the store. There, passengers will find typical Slovak spirits, liqueurs, wafers, chocolates, regional souvenirs and gifts.
Zdenek Schraml said: “Heinemann entered the Slovak market in 2007, when they took over the operation of the duty free shop at our airport. Since then, thanks to Heinemann, our passengers enjoy shopping a wide selection of perfumes, cosmetics, spirits, confectionery, fashion, accessories and tobacco products.
“As one of the companies with the longest tradition in duty free retailing in the world, Heinemann, to us, is a guarantee of high quality service and an attractive selection of goods. That’s why we are very happy that this renowned retailer will be able to further expand and broaden its offer in Bratislava thanks to the retail premises in the new terminal. We are convinced that with our new attractive premises and with the new marketing concept, the Heinemann shop will become an important part of the journey for every departing passenger in Bratislava.”
Bratislava is the largest international airport in the Slovak Republic. In 2009 the airport handled 1.7 million passengers. It operates flights to 30 scheduled destinations and routes are provided by five carriers – CSA Czech Airlines, Danube Wings, LOT Polish Airlines, Ryanair and Sun D´Or International.
