Gebr Heinemann scoops Frankfurt Airport retail award – 07/04/08

GERMANY. Gebr Heinemann has scooped the top retail prize in the ShopStar 2008 Awards, a programme created by Frankfurt Airport operator Fraport to recognise excellence among service providers at the airport.

The award went to the retailer’s Travel Value & Duty Free Shop in Terminal 1 (Schengen Terminal). The ShopStar Award emblem now adorns the shop front.

The Fraport “jury” chose Gebr Heinemann’s store for two key reasons. First was its Luxury Lounge Promotions scheme, which presents a large number of new editions and fine spirits that are available exclusively in the Schengen-B shop at Frankfurt Airport.

Gebr Heinemann’s Luxury Lounge has proved a powerful showcase for new and exclusive brands

To make it easier for customers to identify the right contact person in the store, all staff wear the same style of uniform and each also wears flags on their uniform to denote which languages they can speak.

The jury also praised a project initiated by Gebr Heinemann in its Travel Value & Duty Free Shop in Schengen B1, providing its trainees with practical customer contact experience.

The young trainees were responsible for conducting a survey, asking passengers a number of questions and dealing with the various needs of each customer.

Gunnar Heinemann, Co-owner of Gebr Heinemann, receive the ShopStar prize from Fraport together with Kerstin Flügge and Richard Hoyer, the Retail Managers at Frankfurt Airport.
