Get smart: Clinique and TED combine to recognise women’s creativity

Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Moisturiser comes in both a day formula with SPF15 and as a nourishing night cream

At the TEDWomen 2015 Conference earlier this year, Clinique Global Brand President Jane Lauder launched a campaign, in partnership with TED, to find the next ‘smart idea’.

The initiative hopes to “engage and encourage women all over the world and from different walks of life to share their intelligence, ambition and creativity”.

The winning idea will receive funding of up to US$20,000 to get off the ground. The woman behind the winning entry will be invited to share her idea with the women profiled in the Smart Women series at the TEDWomen conference in 2016. For more information: www.clinique.com/smartideas

Clinique Smart Serum launched last year after decades of research. Clinique claims that the serum understands what your skin needs and can target accordingly. It is able, the brand house says, to deliver the ingredients needed for a specific concern, for example: dryness, dark spots or wrinkles, and if your skin doesn’t need a particular ingredient it simply lies dormant.

In an extension to the range, this “smart” technology has been added to four new products.

Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Eye Treatment is available at Clinique travel retail locations worldwide. It boasts the multi-tasking benefits of brightening, lifting and smoothing, diminishing fine lines and crow’s feet and adding a shot of hydration. Ingredients include a Japanese seaweed that acts as a soothing anti-irritant, and botanical plum extract which brightens.

Clinique Smart SPF15 Custom-Repair Moisturiser is also now available at Clinique travel retail locations worldwide. It is an oil-free cream which comes in three formulas to suit different skin types: Very Dry to Dry, Dry Combination and Combination Oily to Oily.

This daytime moisturiser protects against UV rays while the ‘smart’ technology works to target concerns such as dullness and loss of elasticity. Plankton Extract is a marine-derived enzyme that helps to repair the skin’s cells and a combination of sunscreen ingredients help to deflect both UVA and UVB rays.

Also available in travel retail doors worldwide, Clinique Smart Night Custom-Repair Moisturiser is again available in three different skin type formulas. Oil-free, the cream works to repair skin during sleep with ingredients such as glucosamine, an amino sugar said to hydrate and plump fine lines, and a cocktail of fermented soy extracts to help skin retain moisture.

New for November 2015 is Clinique Smart Treatment Oil, which can be used in a number of different ways. Suitable for all skin types, this lightweight oil can be applied directly to the skin helping to restore radiance and improve the appearance of fine lines, or, it can be added to your moisturiser for extra nourishment.

It contains Argan Kernel Oil which, rich in natural lipids, antioxidants and Vitamin E, is known as ‘liquid gold’. Non-greasy, the Treatment Oil can also be applied over your daily moisturiser to seal in the skincare benefits and to give skin a dewy glow.
