Gianfranco Bigli brings warmth to winter jewels

Rings from the Sweety collection feature pink and white gold, diamonds, smoky quartz, coral, mother-of-pearl and jet

BELGIUM. Upscale Belgian jewellery brand Gianfranco Bigli has unveiled its 2009-2010 winter collection majoring on gemstones with warm colours.

Various shades of smoky quartz, brown diamonds or amethyst mauve are combined with pink gold.

Gianfranco Bigli highlights two lines for the season: Waves and Sweety.

The Waves line features round and curvy shapes in pink or white gold, speckled with brown or white diamonds.

The Sweety collection is described as a combination of stones – a style that is said to be slowly becoming Gianfranco Bigli’s speciality.

This Italian technique involves layering several coloured stones to create a special colour effect. A coloured stone is combined with milky quartz or rock crystal with a pearl shell layer.

“Thanks to this innovative technique we can create extraordinary shades,” company co-founder Laurence Aerens explained. “Furthermore, the light reflection generated by the stone is so much more fascinating.”
