Global Exchange marks Middle East debut at Queen Alia International

JORDAN. Global Exchange has opened its first currency exchange bureaux in Jordan, with four stores at the new Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA).

The Spain-based foreign exchange specialist’s foray into the Middle East was supported by Edgo, which has a solid footprint in the Middle East and Africa since 1956. The €3.5 million joint investment has created 50 new positions, all covered by Jordanian staff.

QAIA, opened in March last year, handled 6.5 million passengers in 2013 and is said to be the busiest airport in Jordan.

The company said in a statement: “With its innovative design [QAIA] is one of the most representative airports of the Middle East, which will be essential for reinforcing the position of Global Exchange in this new region.

“Designed by famous architect Norman Foster, the construction of this airport, where more than US$1 billion was invested, will strengthen current growth in the region as well sustainability and modernisation.”

Global Exchange’s entry into the Middle East brings its global network to 144 stores, spread across 45 international airports in 14 countries and four continents.
