SPAIN. Global Exchange has opened six more currency exchange and tax refund outlets at Madrid Barajas International Airport, in Terminal 4.
The foreign exchange specialist now has a total of 12 locations across the airport, with five in Terminal 1, one in Terminal 2 and six in Terminal 4.
It has invested more than €3 million to develop and open the new branches, just 30 days after airport operator AENA awarded it the concession. It has also recruited 80 new members of staff.

In Departures, Global Exchange now has two landside offices and two airside offices – one in a Schengen area and the other one in the Satellite building, for non-Schengen flights. Meanwhile, in Arrivals it has one branch in the Schengen area and one in the non-Schengen area.
Global Exchange Group President & CEO Isidoro Alanís said: “Being present at Madrid Bajaras T4 is a great investment as we expect to increase our current customer base by 600,000 each year, adding those customers served in currency exchange and also in tax refund.”
The company added that it expected to have 150 offices in 45 airports across 14 countries by the end of the year, employing 1,050 people and serving more than 3.5 million customers. Its international expansion recently continued with the opening of stores at Mariscal Sucre international Airport in Quito, Ecuador.
