Godiva makes its debut on the Turkish-Bulgarian border at Kapikule with Setur Duty Free |
TURKEY. Premium chocolate supplier Godiva has made its debut in the Turkish border business with a number of fixtures at two newly opened outlets operated by Setur Duty Free. The two stores are located at Kapikule on the Turkey’s Bulgarian frontier. The openings were revealed last month by The Moodie Report.
Godiva has fixtures in both shops, one within the 464sq m confectionery area of the larger 1,802sq m outlet, and another within the 331sq m confectionery section of the 1,017sq m outlet.
“This is the first time Godiva has been available at a Turkish border duty free shop and it’s a very important step forward for us,” said Godiva Chocolatier ITR Sales Manager SEU, Africa & Middle East Ramón N. Iglesias. “The crossing at Kapikule is already proving to be very busy with heavy traffic, particularly from Turkish people living in Europe and returning for a summer vacation. Gifting is important for family and friends and confectionery, therefore, is proving to be a very important category.”
Godiva has both Mid-Tower and Gondola units in the stores, supported by a highly visible column visual advertisement. The opening is being supported by price-off promotions for two of Godiva’s popular lines – its Signature collection and Istanbul Souvenir collection.
Iglesias noted: “Godiva enjoys an excellent partnership with Setur. The operator truly understands our needs; the Godiva vision and the facilities we require to promote our products as they should be. We are now planning to open fixtures in Setur’s outlets on the Greek-Turkish border and selected port duty free shops.”
*Note: Setur Duty Free’s border, port and airport operations will feature in a major section on Turkish travel retail in The Moodie Report Digital Print Edition for September.
