Bacardi Global Travel Retail has launched the Grey Goose Taste Studio at London Heathrow Airport.
Currently available exclusively in the Grey Goose Loft at the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at London Heathrow Aiport, Upper Class passengers are invited to take part in a taste consultation with an expert mixologist to determine their preferred cocktail.
For the first step of the consultation, passengers sample a palette of flavoured gels each representing one of the five fundamental essences of taste – sweet, sour, bitter, salty and umami (savoury).
“˜Sweet’ is represented by pear and elderflower, “˜sour’ by sour cherry, “˜salty’ by salted caramel popcorn, “˜bitter’ by coffee and cardamom, and “˜umami’ by porcini and charred onion.
Having identified their taste preference, a Grey Goose cocktail suited to their personal taste profile will be prepared for them by the Grey Goose Loft’s resident mixologist.
An exclusive cocktail list has been created especially for the Grey Goose Taste Studio with the menu laid out according to taste preference. Passengers who prefer sweetness can enjoy a cocktail from the “˜Sweet’ section such as the Grey Goose Le Fizz, comprising Grey Goose vodka, St Germain elderflower liqueur, fresh lime juice and soda water. If sour is more to their taste then they may choose the Grey Goose La Poire Last Word with Grey Goose La Poire, maraschino liqueur and a French herbal liqueur. Those inclined towards “˜bitter’ tastes can try the Espresso Café, made up of Grey Goose vodka, coffee liqueur and a single origin espresso.
The cocktail is then served to each passenger on a coaster decorated with a taste diagram to illustrate the taste profile of each cocktail.
Bacardi Global Travel Retail Regional Director – Europe Aude Rocourt said: “Grey Goose has established a reputation for its exceptional taste so it’s fitting that it should be pioneering an experience which will heighten passengers’ awareness of their own taste preferences.
“All the Grey Goose cocktails on the Taste Studio list are exquisite examples of the bartender’s craft and now passengers will be able to confidently order a cocktail from the list knowing that it’s suited to them.”
The Grey Goose Taste Studio is open exclusively in the Grey Goose Loft at the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at London Heathrow Airport. The Clubhouse is open to all Upper Class passengers and Gold Card holders daily from 4pm.
