The new La Riviera look will soon be seen at Tocumen and Mexico City airports |
PANAMA. Grupo Wisa, the Panama-based travel retailer with interests across Latin America, is rolling out a new store concept for its La Riviera retail brand.
Group Commercial Director Marcelo Montico told The Moodie Report that the company wanted to offer a common shopping experience for airport users, whether they are in Panama’s Tocumen International Airport or at Grupo Wisa’s newest location, Mexico City International Airport Terminal Two.
“We are implementing this new design to improve visibility and consistency in our new Mexico City stores as well as at Tocumen International Airport,” said Montico. “We will move progressively to upgrade all our stores around the region with the new concept. We will have the same facings, the same furniture – the idea is to create the same identity for our stores wherever you are.

“La Riviera will stand for luxury above all” says Marcelo Montico |
“The La Riviera portfolio has differed between its duty paid and duty free applications. It’s a fragrances and cosmetics brand in the local market, but we have had a whole range of categories in the portfolio at airports. That includes fragrances, cosmetics, liquor, tobacco, travel equipment, watches, eyewear and luxury goods boutiques.”
The unifying concept is one of luxury, said Montico: “La Riviera will stand for luxury above all.” The airport stores will have their important fragrances and cosmetics areas simply under the La Riviera brand, and other categories will have their own environments – watches will be displayed within the La Hora environment, while the Luxo concept will house travel goods and bags.
Grupo Wisa, formerly the Waked Group, is profiled in The Moodie Report Digital Print Edition for April, out next month.
