GuestLogix signs deal to equip Germania with inflight payment system

CANADA. Onboard retail and payment technology provider GuestLogix has signed a multi-year agreement with Germania to deploy its platform across the airline’s mainline fleet.

Germania will use the technology to securely transact credit card payments onboard scheduled flights to German, European and international destinations. The technology will also be deployed on Gambia Bird Airline – a Germania-founded carrier based in West Africa.

All aircraft will be equipped with handheld point of sale devices to transact credit card payments for the purchase of duty free items, as well as food & beverage. Deployment is expected to be completed by summer.

“This fleet-wide deployment strengthens our global leadership position in the onboard retail market and signifies GuestLogix’ continued efforts to expand throughout the EMEA region. The implementation of our onboard retail technology will assist Germania in streamlining processes both on and off board, benefitting both the airline and its passengers,” said GuestLogix President & CEO Brett Proud.

Among the claimed benefits for Germania, which currently operates flights to more than 30 international destinations, are greater efficiency, increased revenue potential and a reduction in administrative overhead costs. The airline will also be able to track onboard transactions more accurately and effectively.

“Our decision to implement GuestLogix’ technology stems from our company’s commitment to upholding the highest quality standards,” said Germania CEO Andreas Wobig.

“We are looking forward to GuestLogix’ product suite providing a positive impact on our onboard performance, from both a revenue and a service standpoint. By enhancing our retail management and making it more convenient for our passengers to shop onboard, we aim to maintain the credibility we’ve earned over the past 34 years in service.”
