Behike: “Cohiba’s Best Kept Secret”
In other news, Habanos will launch its most exclusive Cohiba Behike line in April in three new formats: BHK 52, BHK 54 y BHK 56. The new range is touted as the brand’s most exclusive Línea, whose price is the highest of all Cohibas launched up to the present.
Created in 1966, Cohiba in its early years was only a Cuban state gift for heads of state and diplomatic delegations. When Christopher Columbus arrived in Cuba in 1492 he saw that the Taino Indians, inhabitants of these lands, used to light some rolled leaves which they called “˜Cohiba’ and which they later smoked following a ritual. As registered in the chronicles and travel diaries, that ceremony was conducted by a highly respected person called “˜Behike’, said Habanos.

Each one of the vitolas in the new Línea Cohiba Behike is presented in an exclusive 10-cigar lacquered box |
Cohiba Behike will be produced by Habanos each year with the best Cuban tobacco coming from San Juan y Martínez (DOP – Protected Denomination of Origin) and San Luis (DOP) inside the Vuelta Abajo Region (DOP) in limited quantities in the El Laguito factory.
It incorporates for the first time in the blend of its three vitolas the tobacco leaf called “˜Medio Tiempo’, which grants the cigar “exceptional character and flavour”, said Habanos. The new vitolas will be produced each year in extremely limited quantities due to the natural scarcity of the Medio Tiempo tobacco leaf.
The three vitolas of the new Línea Cohiba Behike are:
• BHK 52: 52 ring gauge (20.64 mm) x 119mm in length. Factory name: Laguito No 4.
• BHK 54: 54 ring gauge (21.43 mm) x 144mm in length. Factory name: Laguito No 5.
• BHK 56: 56 ring gauge (22.22 mm) x 166mm in length. Factory name: Laguito No 6.
Each one of the vitolas is presented in an exclusive 10-cigar lacquered box. The Behike bands bear two holograms for security identification for the first time. Not only are its blend and the boxes exclusive, the three new formats of Cohiba Behike have not existed in Cohiba or in Habanos before.
