Hamad International Airport and Qatar Duty Free celebrate culture heritage on National Day

QATAR. In celebration of Qatar National Day on 18 December, Qatar Duty Free and Hamad International Airport have been hosting a series of cultural activities for travellers.

From 16 to 18 December passengers have been treated to Qatari musicians filled playing traditional melodies, along with the captivating Ardha dance, which symbolises unity and strength.

Hamad International Airport has underlined its status as a showcase for Qatari craft and culture over the National Day period of celebration this week

Sense of place concept Souq Al Matar, located near the ORCHARD, has housed cultural activities including henna artists, traditional games and a falconer. Traditional crafters have also demonstrated live bisht tailoring, wicker weaving, fishnet weaving, Dhow boat making and sadu making.

Children have enjoyed festive cookie painting while the airport company has distributed confectionery items infused with local flavours such as dates and saffron. Passengers have also received Qatari flags, allowing them to share in the national spirit.

As part of the programme traditional coffee gahwa is shared at Souq Al Matar, signifying the hospitality and generosity synonymous with the Qatari culture.

Qatar Duty Free has been offering travellers special offers at the airport, starting from -18% off across all retail outlets between 17 and 19 December. ✈
