GERMANY. A “Hamburg institution” offering maps, travel literature, souvenirs and other travel accessories has opened in the pop-up store at Hamburg Airport.
The traditional Hamburg shop, Dr. Götze Land & Karte, will be renting the pop-up store near Gate A17 for about six months.

Dr. Götze has been located on the banks of Hamburg’s Inner Alster lake for more than 60 years, and is regarded as Germany’s biggest specialist store for geographical products. Items such as globes and compasses can be purchased in the temporary airport store.
Hamburg Airport Head of Center Management Lutz Deubel commented: “Dr. Götze Land & Karte is an institution in Hamburg, the place to go for literature and maps covering anywhere on the planet.
“So it really is fitting that there is now a branch at Hamburg Airport. Passengers can go to the new Dr. Götze shop before departure to buy information about their destination, and while there they may find themselves inspired to more journeys of discovery. I am convinced that the new shop concept will prove popular with our passengers.”
The 23sq m pop-up store was established at Hamburg Airport in September 2016. Individual providers operate there for a limited time, so that the shopping offer “is always changing”, the airport said.
The pop-up store is part of Hamburg Airport’s newly designed Pier atmosphere, in which Sense of Place is emphasised. The store has been designed to reflect the themes of trade, merchant houses and the warehouse district.
