Hamila Duty Free strikes new Tunisian port and ferry duty free deals

TUNISIA. Leading North African travel retailer and distributor Hamila Duty Free has struck two vital deals in its home market of Tunisia, covering both the port and ferry business.

The company has agreed a five-year deal to operate the stores at the port of La Goulette in Tunis, as well as a five-year agreement to operate duty free on board CTN (Compagnie Tunisienne de Navigation) Ferries, which plies a number of routes in the Mediterranean.

Hamila had operated both contracts until their expiry at the end of 2011. These new agreements take effect from 1 March this year. Hamila won the contracts following tenders for each.

Hamila Duty Free Owner and CEO Tarek Yassine Hamila expressed his delight at the new contracts in the company’s home market. The company also operates airport, inflight and diplomatic stores, as well as a sizeable distribution business.

Hamila operated the port terminal contract previously, and now has a new agreement for five more years
