Hamleys takes extended space in renewed Stansted Airport terminal

UK. Toy retailer Hamleys is to extend its presence at London Stansted Airport, opening a new, bigger store in the airport’s redeveloped International Departures Lounge (IDL) from 11 September.

The store will carry more than 1,000 products and will include an area dedicated to Lego. Hamleys is the latest retailer to join the Manchester Airport Group-owned (MAG) airport’s commercial line-up as part of the £80 million transformation of its IDL.

MAG Retail Director Beth Brewster said: “MAG has a clear vision to transform Stansted Airport and I’m delighted that Hamleys will join the exciting list of global brands and new concepts in our multi-million pound development to improve services and facilities for passengers.”

Hamleys Retail & Brand Director Ralph Cunningham added: “Our new larger toy shop gives us the opportunity to widen the range of goods on offer, providing an even greater choice of toys for the millions of families who pass through Stansted each year.”

As reported, Stansted has already enlisted several retailers to participate in its new commercial programme – including World Duty Free Group with an enlarged walkthrough store, Dixons Travel, Boots, WHsmith and a strong food & beverage line-up (pctured below).

In July the airport released tenders for a further 16 retail opportunities in the new airside area.
