Have fun in the sun with Cush’n Shade – 08/08/06

The Cush’n Shade cushion can be used on its own or attached to a sun lounger

IRELAND. Irish company Cush’n Shade Ltd is seeking travel retail exposure for an innovative new sunbathing accessory which combines a cushion and a sunshade.

The portable product is said to protect the skin from over-exposure to the sun, while offering support for the neck.

Cush’n Shade has a +50 ultraviolet protection factor and can be used as a stand-alone item or attached to a sun lounger. It weighs 900g, with dimensions of 480 x 500 x 50mm. The recommended retail price is £19.95 (€27.95).

According to the company, the product is aimed at 25-year-olds and over and is available in a range of colours including coral, blue and citrus green. A distressed denim finish will be available soon.

Speaking about the firm’s travel retail distribution strategy, Jamie Jenkinson of Cush’n Shade Ltd told The Moodie Report: “We have only just started to approach the retail shops in airports. We started with Aer Rianta in Ireland and they loved it and requested a sample straight away.”

He continued: “We have not appointed distributors as we plan on selling by the container from our factory in China. We have distribution centres in Los Angeles and Brussels which can service the US and European markets.”

On the company’s product development plans, he added: “At the moment we are just selling Cush’n Shade but we have plans for similar products.”

Cush’n Shade is displayed in a clear PVC bag with large photo images. It is 480mm wide, 500mm high (hanging) and 50mm in depth.

Cush’n Shade is currently only available for sale online. Visit www.cushnshade.com
