Chocolate and macadamia specialist Hawaiian Host, and sister business Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Corporation, have announced three new appointments to their senior management teams.

Edward Schultz is the new President of the two businesses, joining from his previous role as President and owner of Honolulu Coffee. Under his leadership, that company grew from five stores in 2008 to 37 stores across Hawaii, Japan, Vancouver and Guam.
Schultz was also previously President of LatteLand, based in Kansas City, where he began his association with the coffee business.
Theresa Tuxhorn has taken on the role of Director of Global Marketing, joining from Williams Sonoma, the San Francisco-headquartered specialist in gourmet foods and cookware. There, she led the merchandising, marketing and product innovation functions for the confectionery and gourmet food category. She had responsibility for 230 retail locations and also the company’s ecommerce and catalogue operations.
Earlier in her career, Tuxhorn spent a decade working at travel retailer DFS, latterly as Global Merchandise Manager for the food and gift category. Her other experience includes a role in developing and designing a premium food hall for the launch of the T Fondaco dei Tedeschi in Venice, Italy.

Meanwhile, Danielle Laubenstein also joins with experience in travel retail, having started her career with Godiva’s GTR team. Most recently, she was Director of Marketing at Chocolove, the Colorado-based chocolate manufacturer.
Tuxhorn said: “This is a particularly exciting time for the three of us to be joining Hawaiian Host, when one if its main focuses is to grow its travel retail business. I’m aiming to use my experience in the channel to help rapidly develop our business in this market, which offers a wealth of opportunities.”
As reported, Hawaiian Host introduced its Mamoru Takitani Founder’s Collection of chocolate products into Asia Pacific travel retail earlier this year.
Hawaiian Host and Mauna Loa products are sold in more than 20 countries and the companies have a combined 600 employees in Honolulu, Hilo, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Singapore.
