Red Canoe produces collections of clothing, headwear and accessories based around renowned vintage icons |
CANADA. HDS Retail North America has just opened its latest speciality retail concept, an apparel store named Red Canoe, at Montréal Trudeau International Airport. The store is located post-security, in the International Concourse.
Red Canoe – National Heritage Brands Inc. is a Toronto-based company, founded by Dax Wilkinson, that designs and produces collections of clothing, headwear and accessories based around renowned vintage icons.
These include Boeing, Cessna Aircraft, American Airlines, Bell Helicopters, Douglas Aircraft, North American Aviation, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Canadian Pacific Railway, the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, among others. The style is described as “subtle, classic and easy-to-wear”.
HDS Retail North America Executive Vice President of Merchandising Jonathan Alpert said: “Our relationship with Dax Wilkinson goes back many years. He and his company, Red Canoe are trendsetters in the design of new, high quality, innovative product. They continually adapt their offering to meet consumers’ needs and have found a niche in the marketplace by focusing on travellers but not in a way that screams out “˜souvenir’.”
Red Canoe Founder, President and Creative Director Dax Wilkinson said: “I must say a sincere thank you to the HDS team for their vision and support in pushing us and the Red Canoe retail concept to the next level. This marks a great new phase of an even closer commitment and collaboration that builds on a rewarding seven-year partnership. We look forward to future challenges, growth and success together.”
