Philips aims to make the VisaPure skincare device available through beauty travel retail stores |
Philips Global Travel Retail, the diversified health and well-being company, presented its complete range of over 20 travel retail best-sellers at the TFWA Asia Pacific fair in May 2013.
Updated versions of key products such as the SensoTouch 3D shaver and SoniCare toothbrush were exhibited at the Singapore show, alongside Philips VisaPure skincare and Philips Lumea hair removal items.
Philips VisaPure skincare cleansing device was one of the highlights on the Philips stand. The product massages the skin to remove make-up and dirt, claiming to be ten times more effective than hand cleansing.
VisaPure was introduced to Asia travel retail following a successful launch in the domestic markets of France and China.
Philips Global Travel Retail is aiming to make this skincare device available through beauty, skincare and cosmetics stores, “where it will deliver 100% incremental sales and shop-floor excitement,” according to Head of Global Travel Retail Melvin Broekaart.
Broekaart explained that Philips was aiming to be the leading consumer lifestyle brand focused on health, beauty and well-being, following the sale of the Dutch group’s audio, video, multimedia and accessories business to Funai Electric Co of Japan. The deal was announced in January.
Also in January, Philips decided to add a centralised approach to its travel retail business structure so that travel retail managers based locally are aligned with the Amsterdam headquarters.
“We can now offer a global, centralised way to talk to customers besides our current local partnerships, ensuring optimal usage of available best practice,” Broekaart told The Moodie Report in Singapore. He added that select customers would continue to be supplied by distributors.

Other Philips products on show at the TFWA Asia Pacific exhibition included:
Philips Lumea: The Philips Lumea hair removal system uses light-based technology called IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) to remove and prevent the reappearance of hair on the face as well as body.
Philips has adapted the IPL technology used in professional beauty salons for safe and effective use at home, working closely with leading dermatologists to develop the breakthrough hair removal system.
The product design is a result of over 10 years of extensive consumer research with more than 2,000 women, according to the brand.
Philips SensoTouch 3D: Hailed as the brand’s “most advanced shave yet”, the SensoTouch 3D RQ1296CC shaver has a GyroFlex 3D system that follows every contour of the face and UltraTrack heads that shave every hair in just a few strokes.
The electric shaver has an Aquatec seal for dry and wet shaves and delivers a smooth, low-friction SkinGlide to minimise irritation.
