UK. WorldPoints rewards programme members travelling through Heathrow Airport will be able to receive personalised offers and information through their iPhones or iPads, under a deal struck with Apple.
Passengers will be able to store their Heathrow loyalty card and access current retail offers and coupons through the Apple Passbook application, which also allows users to organise boarding passes, tickets and gift cards.
Developed in partnership with World Duty Free, Heathrow’s Passbook content will evolve to include both airport retailers and service providers. Promotions and discounts will appear on the device screen throughout the customer’s travel through the airport at the relevant stages of their journey.
Heathrow Marketing & Insight Director Nick Adderley said: “We are delighted that Heathrow’s passengers will be among the first to take advantage of the Passbook within an airport.
“Our passengers will be able to see the latest offers from Heathrow’s stores promoted within their Passbook at relevant points along their airport journey, ensuring every journey is enhanced in a customised way.”
High profile brands around the world have already partnered with Apple on Passbook |
Heathrow said the partnership with Passbook was a “natural fit”, citing research showing that a majority of WorldPoints rewards programme members use Apple mobile devices when they are at the airport.
From the end of this year, the WorldPoints programme will focus on Heathrow alone, with the combined scheme for Stansted, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Southampton ceasing on 31 December 2012.
